How do I pay for a transaction using BECS Direct Debit (New Zealand)?

Overview

Registrants in New Zealand using a registration form to make a payment through Passport have the option to submit the payment using BECS Direct Debit.

Bulk Electronic Clearing System (BECS) Direct Debit is a popular bank transfer system for recurring payments. It allows businesses to collect authorised payments automatically and directly from customers' bank accounts, a method known as direct entry.


Step-by-Step

Step 1: Complete the registration form details

First, complete the registration form, including any mandatory fields. If you are unsure where to find the registration form for the organisation to whom you want to register, please contact the organisation directly.


Step 2: Select the Stripe payment method

When you reach the payment page, select the Stripe option


Step 3: Pay by NZ Direct Debit

On the next page, you will see different Stripe-supported payment options along the top of the page - select NZ Direct Debit


Step 4: Enter your bank account and contact information

New Zealand users will be required to add bank account and personal contact information to complete their payment, including:

  • Email Address
  • Account Signatory Name
  • The name on your bank account
  • The name of your bank
  • Bank Account Number
